About SkillHints

SkillHints helps you pick a good first course, and a good next one, without hours of searching.

Why SkillHints exists

There are more great online courses than ever. That is also the problem. Search “learn programming” and you get thousands of results. Each one says it is the best place to start. Prices, certificates and starting needs are hard to compare.

So many people pick what a friend picked, or what they saw in an ad. Then they quit when it doesn’t fit. Often they think they failed. Really, they just picked the wrong skill.

SkillHints works differently. We start with what you are naturally good at. Then we show a small list of trusted courses that fit you. Every course is described honestly, and we show why we picked it.

How we choose courses

Our list has 20 courses right now. They come from places like Harvard’s CS50, freeCodeCamp, The Odin Project, Kaggle Learn, Google, Microsoft Learn, Cisco Networking Academy, HubSpot Academy and Y Combinator.

We pick courses that are well known, clear about what they teach, and friendly for beginners when they say so. Most are free or free to audit. A few are paid, and they are clearly labeled.

SkillHints is independent. No course company pays to be listed. We don’t rank courses for money.

How we check course details

We checked every course name, link, cost type and certificate rule on the provider’s own website. Our last full check was in October 2026. If we couldn’t confirm something, like how long a course takes, we leave it out or say so. We don’t guess.

Help us keep it right

Course websites change prices, rules and links often. If you see something out of date, please email ehtyalee1919@gmail.com. Tell us the course name and what changed. Course ideas are welcome too. You can also visit our contact page.
